I utilize basic IPA (International Phonetic Alphabet) pedagogy as the baseline for understanding the major sound shifts required for any given dialect. Once those structures are put in place, I work with folks on an individualized basis, honing in on personalized and creative practices to strengthen their technique and overall confidence.

Production work is individualized based on the needs of that particular production and company.

Typically, with a full production, I have found that 2-4 working sessions, depending on the difficulty of the dialect(s) + the needs of your cast (factoring their overall experience and proficiency in dialect work,) tends to be the sweet spot. This can be adjusted to fewer or more sessions per need, budget, etc.

Here is an example of how those 2-4 sessions might look within a rehearsal schedule (note that sessions, outside of ones in which I am watching a full show run, are typically 1.5-2 hours in length):

    Sessions 1-2:

I lead the group of actors through the dialect(s) using the worksheet(s) I create. Actors are given a copy of said packets to study outside of rehearsal in their individual prep work. All dialects for a production can be covered in one session, or further broken down over two working sessions depending on production needs and director preference.

    Sessions 2-3:

We review learning materials, and then have breakout sessions where actors can work 1:1 with me on their own individual dialogue.

    Sessions 3-4:

I watch full runs of scenes/acts/full production and give final notes.

Absolutely! There are several options for individualized dialect coaching available, whether you need a quick session for an upcoming audition, want to brush up for a role you're currently cast in, or simply want to learn a fun new mouth font, I am happy to work with you to create an individualized package to serve your dialect needs!
